A quartz banger is a banger made from quartz glass. It is the usual material because quartz has no taste of its own and does not react with what you put in it — unlike titanium, which can push a metallic note into the first few dabs.
The types you will run into:
- Bucket — the classic flat-floored pot. The all-rounder, and the easiest to clean.
- Thermal / double wall — an air gap between the walls, so heat holds longer and more evenly.
- Blender / spinner — grooves or an angled intake up top that spin the air around. Only worth it with pearls and a cap.
- Flat top — a flat wide rim a carb cap seats on exactly.
Quartz takes high heat fine. What it does not take is sudden change. Heat it, let it drop, work. Never cool it with water.
