A full-spectrum extract is a concentrate that keeps the original make-up of the plant — not just one target compound, but the other cannabinoids and terpenes that were in there with it.
Three levels you will meet on labels:
- Full spectrum — everything kept, trace compounds included.
- Broad spectrum — everything kept except one compound that has been removed.
- Isolate — one single compound, nothing else.
To look at, a full-spectrum extract is darker and smells stronger, because there is simply more in it. The exact make-up varies batch to batch with the input material — which is why the thing to ask for is a test of that specific batch, not a general declaration.
