Dab

A dab is a small dose of concentrate you carry into a hot banger, where it vaporises. The whole technique takes its name from it — dabbing.

The process has four steps:

  1. Heat the banger with the torch from the side, not straight down into the floor.
  2. Let it cool. This is the step beginners skip — and then wonder why it tastes burnt.
  3. Drop the dab in with a dabber.
  4. Cap it and pull slowly.

Go small. A piece the size of a grain of rice is plenty to start with — you can always add, you cannot take away.

Swab the banger afterwards while it is still warm. It saves you an hour with isopropyl later.

Often frequently asked questions

It depends on the floor thickness and how long you heated it. A thin-walled bucket wants a shorter pause, a thick-walled or thermal one longer. Only a thermometer settles it reliably — the guesswork comes right after a few days.

Temperature too low, or no carb cap. Leave the residue where it is and swab it out with a cotton bud while the banger is still warm.

Start at a grain of rice. A smaller dose gives you cleaner flavour and does not gunk up the banger.
