Butane extraction is the process where butane passes through plant material and carries the cannabinoids and terpenes out with it. Then it evaporates off and concentrate is what is left.
The decisive part is the last step — purging. Residual butane is pulled off in a vacuum oven at a controlled temperature and it takes hours to days. How it is purged is what makes shatter, wax or budder — same raw material, finished differently.
This is not a home activity. Butane is heavier than air, it sits at floor level, and a spark off a light switch will set it off. Professional production runs in a closed loop with extraction ventilation and certified equipment.
As a customer, one thing out of that whole process matters to you: a lab test for residual solvents. Without it you do not know what you are holding.
